2016 Automotive Management Workshop with BCIT: May 17-18, 2016 Presentation Skills & Public Speaking (2-Day Workshop)
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This introduction to presentation skills will help you to design and deliver great presentations. Whether you present often or have never presented before, this workshop will provide you with the foundations for planning and delivering presentations in both your work and personal life. Presentations are an opportunity to educate, engage and motivate your audience. We’ll break down the elements of a good presentation and provide you with a fun environment to practice your presentation skills.
You will have an opportunity to present to others in small groups and, as part of a small group, you’ll be presenting to the larger group. You’ll receive practical tips and tricks to make your next presentation the most successful one yet!
This workshop will address:
- Planning your presentation
- Your presentation objectives
- Know your audience
- Content organization (introduction, hook, speaking points, summary)
- Persuasiveness tools (logic, credibility and emotion)
- Props (PowerPoint, flip charts, handouts)
- Presentation environment considerations
- Presenting
- Making an entrance
- Body language and movement
- Speaking voice
- Handling transitions and responding to questions
- Handling interruptions
- Handling stage fright
Upon successful completion of the workshop, the participant will be able to:
- Create and effectively use meaningful visuals
- Understand how to create an impactful flow of messaging
- Refine body language to actively support messaging
- Develop presentation skills to support differences in audience size and interests, as well as differences in presentation lengths
This workshop is part of a series of 10 workshops offered by NCDA & BCIT. Successful completion of 8 of 10 workshops results in a Statement of Completion Award.
